My Little Firework's Birthday Celebration

Kinsman... My sweet boy... My youngest son...
yesterday July 4th, 2014 was your 5th birthday
and I did not get to celebrate it with you.
Thousands of miles and government papers separated us.
My heart ached to celebrate this day with you.
To celebrate the day you entered this world
and the gift that you are
and will be to so many people.
Your Dad, Brothers, and I decided to celebrate you
even though we could not be with you.

If we had been together,
I would have wrap my arms around you
and whispered in your ear...
I love you to the moon and back.

I would have told you how courageous you are
and that you are my superhero.

I would have told you that God has big plans for your life
and that you were created for this exact moment in time.
You have been through more in your short life
than I could ever imagine.

You have faced adversity and fear and it is not fare.
I ache that I am not there to protect you
every second of every day.

But you are strong.

Far stronger than me
and I will rest in the peace
that your heavenly father loves you
and that He will protect you.
This wait for you to come home has given me small glimpse
of how our Heavenly father must feel
as he waits for the day that his Children will come home to Him.
And then How He celebrates the day when we do come home
and are born again into his family.

Kinsman we can not wait for the day you are home.
So instead of mourning yesterday
We celebrated!
We celebrated that you will someday be home with us.
We celebrated you and your life
and that you are perfectly made by your creator.

The first thing your brothers did when they woke up
was sing happy birthday to you!
I wish you could have heard it...
It was the sweetest melody of brotherly love.
They long for the day you are home.
We all do.

We spent the morning making you a special birthday treat!
This is something that I do every year for your brothers
and now I get to do for you too!
Your brothers helped!

After we made your special treat,
we headed to the pool for a 4th of the July celebration
and rode the rocket car!
We pretended that we were riding the rocket
all the way to the DRC to see you.

You were never out of our thoughts.
I watched your brothers swim and play catch
and I dreamt of the day
when all of you would be together.

You have a special birthday!
It is the same day as the USA's Birthday.
So the exciting thing is...
you will always have fireworks on your Birthday!
Kinsman you were born for a purpose.
Just like when a firework explodes in the sky
and the beautiful colors are displayed for all to see.
You were born to spread the the Light of God
so that others can see the wonder and glory of Him.

That is what God wants for all of us.
For his light to shine through us.
I pray this everyday over your life.

Sweet boy...You are my little firework.
Your light in this world will
sparkle radiant colors for those around you to see.
I love you and I praise God for your light in this world.

We finished off the day celebrating
the 4th of July and your birthday with lots of friends.
Friends that anxiously await the day you are home too.
Friends that pray for you and love you already.
(This is only a few of them in the pic below)
They all sang Happy Birthday to you!
(I cried while they sang)
But I rejoiced in my heart because
I know you will be wrapped in love when you come home
and that we will celebrate with you someday.
We ate cookies and Cupcakes!
Your friends loved the treats
and they wished that you were there to share.

The night ended with fireworks,
lighting lanterns that flew into the sky,
(we pretended they were flying all the way to the DRC)
a silly string fight, and a bomb fire.

When the fireworks ended and everything was quiet,
I sat there staring at the fire.
Praying for you.
Praying for the day you will finally be in my arms.
Praying that you will know who you are in your Heavenly Father.
Praying that your light would explode in this world
so high and so bright that everyone around you will see it.
I love you Kinsman...to the moon and back.
Love,
Your Mama
